The North Farmington boys varsity tennis team closed its regular season with a 6-3 home loss to Walled Lake Western. A trio of doubles teams earned victories for the Raiders, who will host a Division 2 Regional qualifier for the State tennis championships on Thursday. North Farmington enters postseason play as City Champions, having beaten both Farmington High School and Harrison High School this season.

North Farmington’s No. 2 doubles team of senior co-captain Keith Jackson and junior Ryosuke Nishda won a spirited three-set battle over Western’s Salin Ghinare and Emelio Barcia-Meza, including a third-set tiebreaker. The Raiders’ No. 3 doubles squad of senior Mitchell Alekman and sophomore Jackson Jozwiak powered its way to a 6-4, 6-2 win over Josh Isbia and Matt Jasgur, while North Farmington’s No. 5 doubles team of Keegan Kenrick and Jed Weinstein earned a 6-3, 6-4 win over Davis Hixson and Tim Harvey.

The No. 1 singles showdown between Western’s Josh Messing and North Farmington sophomore Scott Katz as a back-and-forth slugfest, with Messing claiming a hard-fought 6-4, 6-4 victory. Walled Lake Western swept the singles play on the day.
