Rochester High School
North Farmington High School
The North Harrison Flyers continued their winning ways Friday night as they outlasted Rochester in a back and forth contest that needed overtime to decide a winner. There were several lead changes throughout the game, and both teams showed resiliency as they battled to an 11-11 tie at the end of regulation.
After winning the overtime face-off, the Rochester Falcons settled into offense looking for the game winner. North Harrison’s Jamie Dodd, however, had other plans. Dodd knocked down a pass attempt behind the net, and the Flyers were able to control the ground ball and transition to offense themselves. Shortly into their first possession of overtime, the Flyers’ Ryan Darnell drove to the goal where he found captain, Ben Fernquist on the doorstep of the goal for the game winner.
The Flyers played their most complete game of the season so far and had six different players score a goal. Carlos Tobar and Fernquist led the way with three goals each. Darnell netted two goals of his own and added an assist. The other Flyers scorers were Drew Hinckley (2), Alex Poggi (1), and Jake Selinsky (1). Ethan Rais and Bryan Prabhakar each had another strong game defensively, as did Ryan Silvagi, Joe Damiani, and Dodd..The Flyers look to continue their winning ways again this afternoon as they host Traverse City Central at 1:00 at North Farmington’s Holland Field. Com on out and support the Flyers’ boys.
